MATTHEW MARRIOTT, SANGPEDAGOG

Matthew Marriott is originally from Oxfordshire England . He moved to Norway in 2007 where is was employed full time as a tenor at The Norwegian Opera in Oslo . He then worked as a singing teacher at the national National Opera high school in Oslo KHiO ) for 3 years where some of his students went on to be soloist practicants at the Norwegian opera and others into opera houses in Europe. Matthew is a classical singing teacher at Toneheim Folkehøgskole where each year many of the students he prepares in and out of the school have a high percentage rate in successfully awarded offers to the top conservatories in Norway Denmark and UK and beyond . Matthew has also been employed as Associate Professor of singing at the University of Stavanger and also the University of Agder He has given masterclasses internationally, most recently at Stavanger University , Oslo Opera festival , Arctic Opera Festival in Tromsø ,the Renata Tebaldi Foundation San Marino , the Filhatmonica Rome , Narnia International music festival Italy and the international voice masterclass by the Kaleidos Foundation Palermo, And at the Nebrodi Opeta Festival Sicily . He has also given masterclasses and balcony concerts in collaboration with the Norwegian opera house in Oslo . He is thought of as one of the leading voice teachers in Scandinavia especially for developing young opera singers Matthew originally had the idea of creating a young male voice ensemble and along with Jon Berg Eriksen formed Ensemble Rex in 2020.
